TEN WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED AND BE AN INFLUENCE WITH OUT-OF-TOWN GRANDCHILDEN

Long distance grandparenting is a challenge.  Try some of these suggestions to develop stronger relationships with grandchildren:

1.  Email your grandchild at least 3 times a week.
2.  Send some of those quirky fun emails and start an email discussion.
3.  Make a tape recording of you reading their favorite bedtime story so they cn hear your voice reading to them.
4.  Make a tape recording or print a book that has their name in the story.
5.  Buy a gift certificate at a local book store for your grandchild.  When they purchase the book you purchase one also and
have a book discussion on line.
6.  If possible, visit them once a month.
7.  Send digital phots back and forth on the computer to stay involved in their life.
8.  Make a laminated sheet of paper with all of your phone numbers so they can phone you anytime they wish.
9.  Buy them your favoritie children' books and inscribe a special message in the front.
10.Invite each grandchild for one-on-one time to your home.

BONUS:  Plant a garden together and take pictures of the plants or flowrs as they begin to grow to send to your grandchild.
